     Lawyers are professionals who acquire their juris doctor's degree through extensive schooling and studies and are therefore licensed and authorized by the State to practice law.  However, if you cannot afford to hire an attorney, you have a constitutional right to file pro se.   

• A trial is a relatively uncommon thing in our legal system.  Thousands of legal cases are filed each day, but nearly all of them are settled out of court, between the people involved.  In cases that are “administrative” in nature, no substantive issues need to be resolved, the parties are in agreement and do not require legal advice, legal representation is not always required  - there is no trial, and no disputing issues in a courtroom.  What is required, however, is that you prepare your documents in the correct format and in some cases, the Court will require that you present and/or file "Supreme Court" approved forms and have knowledge of the filing procedures.  Since it is not common for the general public to have both the knowledge to complete the required documents and/or forms in proper format and of Court filing procedures, some times it is necessary to seek the help of a document preparer.  

• Para-Tech will prepare your documents with the information you provide us in the correct format, using the most up-to-date software programs available in the state and county you reside. Upon your review of the documents, you will sign the documents, we will notarize your signature(s) on the completed documents and provide you with detailed instructions and assistance for the step-by-step process of presenting the documents to your local Court for approval and filing.  At Para-Tech, we charge a reasonable fee for our services and stand behind our work 100%. 

• Para-Tech offers fast, economical document preparation services for those who cannot afford the services of an attorney, do not qualify for legal aide or choose to be pro se litigants because there are no disputed issues. Para-Tech’s main objective is to help others help themselves. 

• Please note that there are other alternatives afforded to you (the Court’s Self-Help Program, Legal Aide and attorneys who participate in Pro Bono programs).  You may contact your local courthouse for information on these programs, or please feel free to ask us.
